News on Tariffs

4/2/2025

Hello Customers and Friends,

I have started this page to share updates about tariffs and what is happening behind the scenes at Quilt Girls. There’s been a lot of talk about new tariffs on imported fabric textiles.  Unfortunately, these tariffs will affect the fabrics I carry.

Many of the materials in our shop come from other countries—places known for their craftsmanship and low-cost manufacturing.  These fabrics aren’t available from U.S. manufacturers. Fabrics like our book panels, which are so special to me and many of you.

When the proposed tariffs go into effect, the cost of importing these beautiful materials will rise, leading to price increases for you, the consumer.  I want to be transparent with you now so you are aware this is happening.

As the news seems to change daily, it is difficult to predict when and how much prices may rise.   I will do my best to keep fabric costs low for as long as possible and I will continue to offer sales and promotions as usual.

If there’s something you’ve been eyeing or need for an upcoming project, now might be a good time to scoop it up. The same adorable fabrics may cost more with our very next shipment.

I thank you for supporting my small business over the past 15 years and, hopefully, for years to come.  I thank you for sharing your stories and creations, for posting comments, working for charities, selling at craft shows, reviewing your purchases, and keeping a fabric-loving community alive.

Happy sewing!
Patricia

Update 4/17/2025

I have a fabric order arriving soon with mostly re-stock fabrics (things that are already listed on the website).  This is the first glimpse of any price increase.  There are 7 different fabrics in my wholesale order and only 2 of these show a price increase from the wholesaler.

Once I list those 2 items on the store their prices will be higher.  Other items will remain at their current price.  As different shipments arrive, I am sure more and more products will be affected.

I will do my best to keep you informed.

Update 4/20/2025

The order arrived today and the price increase had nothing to do with tariffs.  The extra charge was very small and it was a shipping charge.  There will be no increase in fabric cost at this time. Please check back here.  If I get any news, I will post it.

Update 4/24/2025

After my last email, many of you asked where the fabrics are manufactured.  I have made a list for you.  Please know this information came from the bolts currently in my inventory.  Manufacturers can change locations at any time.  Please be aware that no one knows how much prices will increase.  Just because there is a 10% tariff, it does not mean the price will increase 10%.  My prices are directly related to what the wholesale distributor charges me.
